Mark Johnston, Principle of Johnston Consulting is a nationally known and highly respected trainer, facilitator, and consultant with over 25 years of strategic planning, leadership development, organizational development, performance management, process improvement, and instructional design experience. Mark provides high-energy, interactive, content driven, experiential workshops that enhance personal, professional, and organizational capabilities and operations.
Using his extensive real world, hands on leadership, operational, and management experience, Mark provides customized consulting, analysis, planning, project management, training, and facilitation skills for small local organizations to large international Fortune 500 organizations across a variety of industries.
Mark has led and managed many different training and development projects for companies with 50 – 75,000 employees. Throughout his consulting career he has assisted organizations and managed projects including job functional, technical, and apprentice training, as well as change management, leadership development, performance management, strategic planning, and succession planning. Mark has also helped organizations define their culture by assisting them with crafting their long-term vision, defining their mission and strategic direction, and identifying and defining the values that make them successful.
Mark has a life long history of training and development experience starting as a Boy Scout. As an Eagle Scout, he trained other scouts and adult leaders. A Michigan native who served in the Marine Corps holding dual Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) in both Maintenance Management and Communications as a Tactical Air Control communications specialist. During his service, he served as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) leadership school instructor where he received certifications in training and facilitation, and instructional design. During Mark’s military career, he learned the leadership, team building, and communication skills necessary to define and accomplish any mission/project assigned.
After serving in the Marine Corps and participating in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Mark held the positions of District Training Manager, Instructional Designer, Management Trainer, and Training Director for Northern Automotive and HomeBase. During these jobs, he managed multiple training projects from analysis, design and development, through evaluation.
Mark has spent over 15 years as the President/Principle of his own training and consulting company. During his career he has provided training, leadership, and project management for initiatives such as strategic planning, performance management and improvement, processes improvement and implementation, and instructional design to fortune 500 companies such as British Petroleum, Disney, and Southern California Edison throughout a variety of industries including utilities, automotive, manufacturing, construction, pharmaceutical, retail, and government.
