“The program reinforced our core values of Growth, Achievement, Positive Attitude, Integrity, and Team work. Prior to our training, there was a bit of a wall between “office” and “production”. We discussed the need to break down the wall, the program encouraged interaction and the sharing of ideas, and the monthly classes allowed that process to become easier. I felt more confident when walking the production floor since we completed the program. My team and I were inspecting cabinets when an assembly worker approached me and asked what I thought of one in particular. I stated it looked good and I had approved. He then said, “Are you sure?” I followed by letting him know that I obviously missed something and to please share his concern. He was right, I did miss an issue. He showed it to me and we addressed it. This started a dialog between us that we hadn’t experienced much of in the past….I walked away knowing the “wall” was coming down and felt very proud. “

Mark’s class on Emotional Intelligence gave me the most benefit. By being more cognizant of others feelings I felt like it gave us a better understanding of each other and will allow us to be more able to reach outcomes that are the most beneficial to the organization. As an organization it will allow us to take pride in the direction we are going collectively and help us create a culture of respect and openness that will set our organization above the rest.

Over the past year, I have employed Mark in my new role as Training Manager for Operations Support at Edison. We have a very high profile effort to develop Incident Command System (ICS) training for our most senior executives. We have our own instructional designers on staff, but I contacted Mark for this effort because it requires a strong body of knowledge (Mark’s military background as a Marine positions him perfectly for work on ICS), a high degree of professionalism in order to get things exactly right for this audience and a keen sense of how bureaucratic politics must be managed to move projects like this forward. Mark has moved swiftly to produce high quality training materials and has gained great respect from the Corporate Security personnel who are the direct clients of this work. As in the past, I am very satisfied with Mark’s work, his timeliness and his integrity in this “high stakes” effort. Despite the fact that he has relocated to Michigan, he has produce a level of work that is noteworthy and recognized by our team as top notch.

Mark and I worked together on training plans and corporate values for Merrill Technologies Group and the Merrill Institute. His training plans are immaculate. The instructor's notes, participants' workbooks, and the PowerPoint slides are all in concert. Additionally, the training is designed and measured in a way to determine how effective the training was in accomplishing the behavior change/objectives. Mark also led our executive team in defining our company's values, of which, we still use today.

I just wanted to thank you personally for coming out and giving a great presentation to the group and myself. After you left, the group raved on how well they liked it. You are awesome!

Thank you Mark...15 years later, your words continue to humble, inspire and encourage me 🙏 I remember I was 25 years old with a knack for creating business processes. I was working with Mark as a new consultant on a big project for a well known energy company. It was my introductory meeting with a few V.P. level members of the company and I was to present my idea for the project for the first time. We were in a tall beautiful skyscraper, the meeting was on the 80th floor, we were waiting in the lounge for the client. My heart started beating fast and I excused myself to the restroom where I experienced what people now days call “imposter syndrome,” and I went into full panic mode. How could I, a child, stand in front of a room of executives and give them confidence in my plan for a multi billion dollar company?? I couldn’t do it. I walked out of the restroom and pulled Mark aside, “I can’t do this Mark, I don’t think I’m ready.” Although I was prepared for the meeting, I lacked confidence in myself in that moment being so young and presenting to experts with decades of experience on me. Mark looked at me right in the eye and said “Yes you are. I know you, I know what you’re capable of and I know what you can do. You know how to do this. You’ve created a great plan and they are looking to you for expertise on this, you are the expert right now.” Mark believed in me in that moment, when I didn’t believe in myself and he helped me through a moment of self doubt that we all have experienced. I leaned on Mark’s strength and belief in me and believed him. We walked into the meeting and I held my composure and presented the plan. They asked a few questions and overall liked it and they hired me for that project. Having a mentor/coach to believe in you and help you get to the next level of your growth is important to have. That experience and that project was one of the foundational layers to my self confidence and has helped strive in work, business and leadership. I will always be grateful to Mark for his real life mentorship 🙏
